Solar Panels

Solar panels are an excellent way to keep your leisure battery charged while you’re off-grid. Whether you’re running a fridge, lighting or charging devices, a roof-mounted solar system provides silent, reliable energy without the need for campsite hook-ups.

Solar Panel Installations (Supply & Fitting Included):

  • 150W Panel & Controller: £569 + VAT — includes the option of a narrow or standard width panel for pop-top vans.
  • 200W Panel & Controller: £649 + VAT — standard width panel only.

All installations include a Victron 15A MPPT smart solar controller as standard and come with a 3-year workmanship warranty (1 year parts & labour, then 2 years parts).
Additionally, each panel carries a 25-year performance warranty from the supplier, guaranteeing at least 90% nominal power after 10 years and 80% after 25 years.

Prices apply to standard pop-top van roofs.

For alternate vehicles or custom roof setups, please request a tailored quote.

FAQ's

Do I really need a solar panel on my campervan?
A solar panel keeps your leisure battery topped up even when the van is parked, which means your fridge, lights and charging points keep running without hook-up. Its ideal for off-grid camping, festivals, touring abroad or simply extending battery life when the van sits on the drive.
What size panel should I choose 150W or 200W?
150W is ideal for weekend use (lights, phone charging and a compressor fridge). 200W provides more headroom for longer touring, winter camping or higher 12v demand. If youre unsure, we can advise based on your usage and battery setup.
Is a solar controller included?
Yes. Every installation includes a Victron 15A MPPT smart controller to manage solar input efficiently and allow Bluetooth monitoring.
Can I monitor how much power the panel is generating?
Yes. The Victron app shows real-time charging information, battery condition and historical performance on your phone or tablet.
Will a roof rack or awning interfere with the panel?
Not usually. The panel is bonded flush to the roof to maximise clearance. If you have a rack or storage system planned, we can assess the layout beforehand to ensure a good fit.
What warranty do you offer?
Workmanship: 3 years (1 year parts & labour, then 2 years parts). Panel performance: 25-year output warranty from the supplier (minimum 90% after 10 years, 80% after 25 years).
Does the installation require drilling?
Only a small, fully sealed hole is required for the power cable. The panel itself is bonded using a structural automotive sealant.
How long does it take to fit a solar panel?
Most installations are completed within half a day. Customers typically drop off in the morning and collect the same afternoon. Although ambient temperature can slow the curing process, so in the colder months its advisable to leave the van with us overnight.
Can you fit solar to vans other than VW Transporters?
Yes. The prices shown apply to VW T5/T6 roofs, but we also install solar systems on a range of other vans and can tailor the solution accordingly.
Do I need to upgrade my leisure battery as well?
Not always. Solar maintains and extends the life of most Lead Acid, AGM or Lithium batteries. If your current battery is undersized or nearing the end of its life, upgrades can be discussed during consultation.
